So I'm trying to connect my Mac Mini to a new Samsung 1080p LCD. At first I used the included VGA adapter and connected it to the TV that way, and it showed the white OSX boot screen logo but then it went to 'No Signal' - I could not get the desktop to display.

Someone recommended that I use a DVI to HDMI cable instead of VGA. After searching the sites I usually go to for cables, I could not find one that I was confident would work with the mini (which is DVI-I). This is the response I got from Monoprice. We're often asked why there isn't a DVI-I to HDMI cable or a DVI-D Dual Link to HDMI cable; the reason is that HDMI (at least, the 19-pin version ofHDMI implemented on all consumer HDMI devices) is a single-link, digital-only standard, so there's no way to hook it up either to a DVI analog or Dual-Link signal; one could put the DVI-I or Dual-Link type connector on the cable, but the additional pins at the DVI end wouldn't actually be hooked up to anything.'

I am confused. I know there are obviously cables out there for this, since I see many people in this forum saying they're using one (and I've also seen some for sale for $100, but that's way too expensive for me). Does the mini accept a DVI-D cable as well? Can someone point me in the right direction here? Something that is cheap and works with the mini. Thanks, Sean.
